In The Problem of Wineskins, Howard Snyder says the Incarnation makes the study of God and the study of anthropology a Christological issue.3 I would argue that it makes ecclesiology, our doctrine of the Church, an issue of Christology as well. John Wesley believed the vocation for which humans were created, and which is restored in salvation, is nothing less than to “live as the image of God in the world.”4 This is incarnational thinking at its best.
